William "Bill" F. Baker, Jr., 76, of Meadville, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Meadville Medical Center after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Bill was born in Meadville on March 1, 1949, a son of the late William F. and Marion (Hood) Baker, Sr.
On October 11, 1969, Bill married Barbara "Annie" Bentley;she survives.
He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
Bill graduated from Meadville Area Senior High School in 1967. After high school, he worked with his dad at Baker's Garage. He entered the U.S. Army on February 17, 1969, and served his country honorably until his discharge on October 21, 1970. His military service earned him several accolades including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. Following his discharge from the Army, he went on to begin a 35 year career with UPS.
He was a wonderful husband and father, valuing family above all else. Perhaps his most cherished title was that of "Papa", a role he embraced fully, finding immense joy and fulfillment in his grandchildren.
Bill was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2006, he was also a longtime member of the Meadville Sportsmen's Club, where he enjoyed shooting skeet and did so competitively. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting. Bill will most be remembered for his love of life, putting family first, cherishing his friendships, standing up for what he believed in, and enjoying a good Yuengling. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Annie, of 55 years, Bill is survived by a daughter Susan Radmore (Mark) of Lititz, two beloved grandchildren Reghan Ann Radmore, Kaleb William Radmore; siblings Kay Baker Beers of Pittsburgh; Richard (Noelle) Baker of Conneaut Lake; David Baker of Meadville; sister in law Sandra Baiera of Meadville; brother in law Leonard(Susan) Bentley of Colorado Springs; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life with Full Military Honors will be held at Stone United Methodist Church at a later date which will be announced.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Wismer, Tyler, Shelby, and the entire staff at the Barco Oncology Institute, as well as all the staff at Wesbury, for the wonderful care they provided.
