Virginia "Ginny" E. Johnston

Virginia "Ginny" E. Johnston, 83, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Meadville Medical Center.

Ginny was born in Meadville, on November 6, 1942, a daughter of the late James H. and Shirley E. (Battles) Johnston.

Ginny was a 1961 graduate of Meadville Senior High School and on February 6, 1962, she started her employment with Meadville News Co. In 1990 cousins merged their similar businesses and that business became Lakeport Dist., Inc. based out of Erie. Ginny retired on June 15, 2007 after 45 years of working for the two families.

Ginny is survived by two brothers Gary Johnston, Dale Johnston (Laurie) both of Meadville, two nephews Troy Johnston, Brad Johnston (Amber) and their daughter Claralee, a niece Kelly Spring (Bradley) and their son Austin.

In addition to her parents Ginny was preceded in death by a sister in law Martha Johnston, maternal grandparents Darrell and Laurena Battles, paternal grandparents Homer and Sara Johnston.

Visitation is from 6-7 PM on Monday, February 16, 2026, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Randy Mason officiating.

Ginny will be laid to rest in Kiser Hill Cemetery, East Mead Twp.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ginny's memory to West Mead #1 Volunteer Fire Department, 10482 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.

Ginny will live on not only through her family, but also through the lives which were helped by her organ donation.
