Thomas M. McGowan

Thomas "Tom" M. McGowan, 69, of Meadville, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Meadville Medical Center.

Thomas was born in Meadville, on October 14, 1955, a son of the late Robert and Evelyn (Girard) McGowan.

On May 24, 1980 Tom married Leslie A. Guthrie; she survives.

Tom was a 1974 graduate of the former Randolph East Mead High School, where he was a member of the Football and Basketball Teams. Shortly after graduation, he became employed by Abex Corporation and later found his niche in home construction and carpentry where he worked for many years, he went on to work for Greiner Extrusion US, Inc where he retired from in 2023. When he wasn't working, Tom enjoyed keeping his cars clean and loved entertaining his grandchildren and life in general. He was good hearted and a jokester. He will be missed.

In addition to his wife, Leslie, of 44 years, Tom is survived by three children Michael T. McGowan (Jessica), Jonathan N. McGowan (Sara), Jeffrey R. McGowan all of Meadville; he was Papa to six grandchildren Valerie McGowan, Brayden McGowan, Jase McGowan, Mackenzie McGowan, Mason McGowan, and Zoey McGowan. He is further survived by two sisters Mary Ann Hartman of Centerville, Kim Templin of Meadville; a brother Daniel McGowan (Bev) of Meadville; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by four brothers Marty McGowan, Jerry McGowan, Robert McGowan, Kevin McGowan; and his step mother Maxine Check McGowan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
