Steven R. Amy, 64, of Saegertown, passed away following a courageous 3 1/2 year battle with cancer on Monday, August 11, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
Steven was born in Meadville, on December 3, 1960, a son of Robert and Kathryn JoAnn (Bidwell) Amy.
On May 2, 1981, he married Holly (Nagel) of Clarks Mills; she survives.
Steve had a successful career in the Tool and Die Industry having worked at Classic Tool, Maloney Tool, Talbar, and Thornton Industries. He had previously drove semi truck for TAW Trucking and BFC. Over the years he did well fracking for Universal and Meridian, worked at Fame Manufacturing, for the Saegertown Boro and later did maintenance work for Crawford County. He loved attending hunting camp, hunting on the family farm and on the property of his sister. Steve was a 1978 graduate of Saegertown High and of the VoTech where he studied carpentry. He was very involved and proud of his community. A lifetime member of Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department, Steve had served as Chief, Assistant Chief and firefighter for over 50 years. He was a member of Crawford and Venango Counties Fire School Committee and a former member of Masonic Lodge and Kismet Grotto. Steve enjoyed playing softball for the Sertoma Club, golfing with his brother at Venango Valley, and loved following his Penn State Nittany Lions. He was a supporter of youth sports having followed and coached Little Gridders Football, Tee Ball, and Jr. High Girls Basketball. At first reluctant, Steve eventually became a huge fan of Saegertown Wrestling as he watched his grandson, Josh, take 6th place in States. He loved attending Josh's wrestling matches and football games, Jaxton's baseball games, volleyball games, football games, and wrestling matches, and he delighted in seeing Hailey at her dance recitals and while cheer leading. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife, Holly, Steve is survived by two sons David Amy (Starr Perrine Amy), Darren Amy, both of Saegertown; three grandchildren Joshua Perrine, Jaxton Amy both of Saegertown, Hailey Amy of Slippery Rock; parents Robert and JoAnn Amy; siblings Jim Amy (Donna), Michele Johnston (Chuck) all of Saegertown; nephews Patrick Amy (Jenna) and their children Noah, Selah, Jason Amy (Nicole) and their children Layla, Marah, Bradley Amy (Taylor), Dylan Johnston (Selena), Austin Johnston (Anna), and Garret Johnston (girlfriend Hannah).
Steve was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Robert and Velma Bidwell, his paternal grandparents Willard and Leda Amy.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the home of Steve and Holly .
