Stephen "Steve" R. Simcheck

Stephen "Steve" R. Simcheck, 57, of Cambridge Springs, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at home.

Steve was born in Meadville, on May 20, 1966, a son of the late George and Eileen (Blakeslee) Simcheck.

On June 18, 1999 Steve married Ernestina "Theresa" Sherman; she survives.

He was a member of First Church of God, Cambridge Springs.

A 1984 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, Steve was also a 1988 graduate of Edinboro University where he earned his teaching degree. Upon his graduation he began teaching 7th and 8th grade math at Maplewood Jr./Sr. High School and was also a basketball coach. A few years later, he was hired to teach middle school math at Saegertown High School and also coached basketball. He retired in 2021 due to declining health. For many years Steve also coached Little League baseball. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was a huge basketball fan and enjoyed watching football as well. He loved spending time with all of his family and his beloved standard poodle, Sky.

In addition to his wife, Theresa, of 24 years, Steve is survived by two children Stephen M. Simcheck of Cambridge Springs, Zachary P. Simcheck (fiance Maycy Troples) of Saegertown; two brothers George Simcheck, David Simcheck (Andrea) both of Cambridge Springs; a sister in law Linda Simcheck of Saegertown; two nephews Jeremy Simcheck and Travis Simcheck.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a brother Mark Simcheck.

Private Services will be held at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, with Vance Neal officiating.

Steve will be laid to rest in Cambridge Springs Upper Cemetery.
