Stephanie Rose Grinnell, 71, of Meadville, passed away suddenly Monday, December 1, 2025, at home.

Stephanie was born in Erie, on April 15, 1954, a daughter of the late Albert Franklin and Sunday Frances (Parisi) Lupo.

She was married to her loving husband, Scott Grinnell on July 24, 1999.

Stephanie was an active member of St. Mary of Grace Church and the Altar Rosary Society. Over the years she served on Parish Council, as an Eucharistic Minister, CCD Teacher, Lector and volunteered countless hours working church activities. Stephanie cherished her Sunday night Prayer Group and possessed a great devotion to our Lord, which guided her life.

She had a wonderful sense of humor about the world around her and extended that sense of humor to herself.

A 1972 graduate of McDowell High School, Stephanie was also a graduate of St. Mary's of Notre Dame College, South Bend, IN, completing classes at the University of Notre Dame also, earning her Elementary Education Degree. While teaching she earned her Master’s degree. Through her high school and college years, Stephanie played Varsity softball where her pitching skills served the schools well. She began her 33-year teaching career at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Boniface elementary schools in Erie before becoming employed by Penncrest School District. There she enjoyed teaching at different grade levels, retiring in 2010. She received The Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching. She was a former member of the ICC Auxiliary. Stephanie was a huge fan of Notre Dame sports as well as the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. Her hobbies included golfing, bowling and she loved cooking and baking with and for her family, especially her grandchildren. They were her life, and she delighted in time spent with them. She will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband, Scott, Stephanie is survived by two sons Philip David Monteforte (Adriana Montesinos) of Alexandria, VA, Anthony Michael Monteforte (Karen Frazier Monteforte) of Meadville; four grandchildren Gabriel, Lorenzo, Aubrey, Ella; sister Jackie Boetger of Erie; two brothers Dane Lupo (Robin) of Grosse Pointe, MI, David Lupo (Theresa) of Algonac, MI, many loving nieces and nephews and Mildred and Terry “Chief” Burch, her mother-in-law and father-in-law.

In addition to her parents, Stephanie was preceded in death by her brother Mark Lupo and Harvey Grinnell, her father-in-law.

Visitation is from 3-7 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, December 8, 2025, at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Rich Toohey officiating.

Stephanie will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery.
