Ronald John Reed, 80, of Meadville, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2026, at home, surrounded by family.
Ronald was born in Corry, on January 8, 1946, a son of the late John A. and Theresa (Brown) Reed.
On July 6, 1968, Ronald married Mary E. Clark; she survives.
He was a member of New Beginnings Church of God.
After 34 years of service to Channellock, Ronald retired in 2006 as Supervisor of the Filing Department. A veteran, Ronald entered the US Army on November 3, 1965, and served his country honorably until his discharge on August 22, 1967. He was a graduate of Corry High School. An avid outdoors man, Ronald had a passion for his hobby farm where he raised beef cattle, turkey, and various types of horses. He was skilled at horse riding and driving, and he passed those skills on to his daughters who were involved in 4H. Together they attended many 4H events. Ronald equally enjoyed deer hunting, muzzle loading, gardening, and mowing his yard. He always prioritized family and especially the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a very hard worker who liked to keep busy doing anything productive. He appreciated the small things in life like a good meal, a good joke, a good laugh, or even a smile. He will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife, Mary, of 58 years, Ronald is survived by two daughters Cheri J. Armitage (Jon) of Cranberry Township, Ocia J. Waid (Morris) of Waterford; three grandchildren Megan Waid, Kase Armitage, Ellie May Armitage; a brother Carl D. Reed of Lakeland, FL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by a grandson Kyle Waid; two brothers Richard Reed and Russell Reed.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 am - 12 pm on Friday, September 11, 2026, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 12 pm with Pastor Keith Mitchell officiating.
Ronald will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made in Ronald's memory to New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Crawford County, Dr. Thomas Young, and the staff of Barco Oncology Institute for the wonderful care they provided.
