Robert Lee Hardin

Robert Lee Hardin, 71, of Erie, formerly of Meadville, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic.

Robert was born in Como, MS on May 8, 1949, a son of the late Jerry and Lillie Mae (Pope) Hardin.

On June 10, 1978 Robert married Rose Ann McLaurin; she survives.

Robert was a veteran of the US Army serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict from Jan 8, 1969 until his honorable discharge on Jan. 11, 1971. During this time he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device as well as a Purple Heart. He continued to serve his country in the US Army Reserves until January 7, 1975. He had been employed by Warren Industries until his retirement in 2013. He attended St. John's Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to Robert's wife Rose Ann of 42 years, he is survived by his children Jouyn Adams, Kimberly McLaurin, Kareen Hardin, Justin Hardin, Leah Hardin, Denior Jones; nine grandchildren; sisters Erma Jean Whitening, Maybell Hardin, Josephine Sustache, Rosie Hardin; brother Beryl Hardin; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers James Hardin and J.D. Hardin.

Family and friends are invited to a Home Going Service at 11 AM on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 404 CHESTNUT STREET MEADVILLE, with Pastor Floyd McClure officiating. CDC guidelines will be followed. Full military honors will follow.
