Rita D. Bernoski

Mrs. Rita D. Bernoski, 97, of Saegertown passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019, at home.

Rita was born at home, in Mosiertown on January 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Anthony and Caroline (Holden) Dick.

On October 16, 1939 Rita married Charles Bernoski; he preceded her in death on February 20, 1982.

She was an active member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, Crossingville, and its Altar Rosary Society. She also volunteered countless hours with funeral dinners and other church activities.

Rita had been employed by the former Patterson Candy located on Park Avenue in Meadville. She actively participated in running the family dairy farm while raising her family. For many years she was a 4-H Leader, encouraging young local girls to expand their homemaking skills to care for and support their own future families. Rita has offered her hands and heart not only to her own family whom she loved dearly, but also to anyone who she came in contact with, including those who entered her home to care for her.

Rita is survived by five children James Bernoski of Saegertown, John Bernoski of Saegertown, Judy Quinlan and her husband David of Erie, Kathy Bernoski of Clarion, Marilyn Smith and her husband Paul of Saegertown, 15 grandchildren Mike, Steven, Cheryl, Deborah, Timothy, Barbara, Theresa, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Colleen, Marcus, Bradley, Robert, Kenneth, Paula, 23 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Charles of 42 years and her parents, Rita was preceded in death by three sisters Mildred Field, Gertrude Kronenberger, Cecilia Miller, two brothers Max Dick, Robert Dick, two daughters in law Carolyn Bernoski and Judy Bernoski.

Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a scripture service will be held in the evening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September, 19, 2019, at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 25797 State Hwy. 98, Crossingville, with Fr. James Kennelley, Pastor, officiating.

Rita will be laid to rest next to her husband, Charles, in St. James Cemetery, Crossingville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
