Richard P. Walker

Richard P. Walker, 80, of Saegertown, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Monday, July 14, 2025, at home.

Richard was born in Woodbury, New Jersey on February 10, 1945. He was the son of George and Alice Gore Walker.

On June 25, 1966, Richard married Susan Shorts; she survives.

In the early 2000's, Richard retired from Osram Sylvania. He had previously worked for the former G.T.E. and WinTronics. An avid golfer, over the years Richard played in various leagues at Oakland Beach, Cross Creek, and enjoyed golfing at Venango Valley Golf Course in his Tuesday and Wednesday night leagues, as well as his Thursday morning league. For many years, he enjoyed golfing with his Sunday Morning crew. He was proud to have shot a hole in one at Whispering Pines and two hole in ones at Venango Valley Golf Course, the most recent on April 22nd of this year, which happened to be the first one of the season at Venango.

In addition to his wife Susan, Richard, is survived by children Melanie Merritt of Saegertown, Eileen Bish of AR, and Michael Walker (Kristen) of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Amber Bradshaw (Patrick), Kyle (Jeremy), Justin Blackwelder (Heather), Hali Johnson, Emeli Brierly (Corey); siblings Theresa (Jim), George (Linda), Kathleen (Jim), Brigid, Robert, Agnes, Edward (Sandy); several nieces, nephews, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son in law David Merritt, his granddaughter Trista, and his siblings Mary, Sheila and Michael.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 11-2 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 330 BROAD STREET SAEGERTOWN, where Funeral Services will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Sam Marchetta, officiating.

Richard will be laid to rest in Acker-Roger Cemetery, Hayfield Twp.
