Richard "Dick" L. Monteforte

Richard "Dick" L. Monteforte, 85, of Meadville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Dick was born in Meadville, on December 7, 1940, a son of the late Luca and Rose (Spina) Monteforte.

He was a member of St. Agatha Church. Dick was a 1958 graduate of Meadville High School. He attended college for a year before entering the the US Army. He was honorably discharged on December 28, 1966. Dick had a long career as an electronic technician, having worked for Walick Electronics Company and Seco Warwick. He went on to work for, and retire from, the PA Driver's Center, and later worked part time at Hovis Auto. Dick had a passion for music, and in 1958 formed his band, Vibrasonics. He played saxophone and bass guitar for other bands including Hard Road, Special Delivery, Forte and the Shades, Mesa, and finally McMillan and Life. Dick was a member of the Italian Civic Club. He enjoyed his regular morning breakfast meetings at McDonald's and Burger King, talking and reminiscing with friends.

Dick is survived by two children Stacy Richter (Corey) of Meadville, Mark Monteforte (Brittney) of McDonald, OH; seven grandchildren Mackenzie Anthony (partner Christian Styborski), Emma Richter, Peighton Richter, Brynn Monteforte, Gianna Monteforte, Luca Monteforte, Mia Monteforte; a brother David Monteforte of Meadville; his companion Jeanne Lee of Meadville; nieces and nephews including Philip Monteforte and Anthony Monteforte.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Joseph Monteforte.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Scripture Service will be held at 6:30.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, with Fr. Jeff Lucas officiating.

Dick will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick's memory to The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, 353 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
