Mary A. Canter

Mary A. Canter, 91, of Meadville, formerly of Reno, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Wesbury.

Mary was born in Connellsville, on August 11, 1934, a daughter of the late Augustus and Goldie (Richter) Anatasion.

On August 22, 1952 Mary married Richard Canter, he preceded her in death on February 12, 2004.

Mary had been affiliated with Cochranton United Methodist Church.

Mary was a 1954 graduate of Connellsville High School. After raising her family Mary went to work for WalMart in Cranberry, retiring after many years of service. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with her husband at Speers Golf Course, Dempseytown. For many years Mary served as president of the Women's Golf League. Her hobbies included doing cross stitch and working crossword puzzles. She was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan and in her latter years enjoyed eating McDonald's cheese burger and french fries.

Mary is survived by two children Larry R. Canter (Marolyn) of Carlisle, Lorri Stafford (Tim) of Fairview, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by two children Debra Byerley, Cindy Rhodes; a brother Robert Anatasion; two sisters Della Anatasion and Helen Nocine.

A private graveside service will be held in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens Cranberry at a later date with Rev. Sam Marachetta, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 Park Ave. or Gentiva Hospice, 1119 Park Ave. both in Meadville, PA 16335.
