Martha L. Moody, 90, of 14632 N. Main St., Meadville, departed this life peacefully while surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at home.
Martha was born in Como, MS, on June 10, 1928, a daughter of the late Cleveland and Lillie (Hawkins) Daniels, Sr.
She was married to Walter L. Moody, Sr. for 71 years; he survives.
Mother Moody was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, until her health declined. Over the years she served as a choir member, usher, Sunday School Teacher, Missionary Society volunteer, Mother of the Church and was an intercessory prayer warrior. She also sang with the Community Choir.
She attended Panola County, MS, schools. During her lifetime Martha held several jobs in the area, but her most important were that of a homemaker and community volunteer. She loved taking care of her family. She donated her time with Wesbury during Coffee Hour and for seven years she was a member of Active Aging Advisory Board. Martha was also a member of the Red Hat Society as well as KOPS #831 (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly). She participated in Relay For Life, Tai Chi and tap dancing. She loved fishing and gardening.
She leaves to carry on her legacy her loving husband, Walter, her son Walter L. Moody, Jr. (Thelma) of Sharon, her daughters, Mary Moody Johnson (Ron) of Sebring, FL, Hazel Moody Reams (Thelbert) of Graham, NC, three grandchildren Kevin Johnson of Tampa, FL, Keya Johnson Thomas (James) of Charlotte, NC, Magen Moody Singleton (Darrell) of Houston, TX, a precious great grandson Dylan Singleton, a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by a son Darrell Moody, sisters Beatrice Simmons, Jessie Lee Orr, brothers Cleveland Daniels, Jr. and Willie Daniels.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, September 9, 2018, from 6-8 PM at St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 792 N. Main Street, Meadville, where A Going Home Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday.
Martha will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
