Madalynn Sue "Maddie" Bowersox

We are devastated to announce the passing of Madalynn Sue “Maddie” Bowersox, 19, of Waterford. Maddie left us on June 6, 2022, after a tragic car accident.

She was a beautiful baby girl who was born in Erie on April 24, 2003, the third daughter of Michal Bowersox Sr. and Mary McCarthy. She lived part of her life with her Papa Robert Bowersox Sr. and her late Granny Carol Bonnell Bowersox; and was currently residing in Waterford with her mom and step dad.

Even as a little girl Maddie seemed to have found the secret to unending optimism and generously spread joy and rays of sunshine in the lives of everyone who knew her. She was beautiful, kind, funny, talented, selfless, cool, smart, funky, and tough all at the same time. She recently graduated from Maplewood High School in 2021 where she played soccer and made many friends along the way. Her love of life was evident in the way she lived. Even just sitting on the porch turned into a fun time with family, friends, and of course food! Maddie had a wandering spirit who loved to travel. Some of her memorable trips were to Florida, Georgia, and Ohio.

Maddie Sue leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories and hilarious sense of humor. She truly brought the life to the party and she never met a stranger. Maddie was such a light in this sometimes dark world and she will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She touched the lives of so many people, but specifically her family she left behind including her father Michal Bowersox (companion Mary Lee Fornal) of Guys Mills; her mother Mary McCarthy (companion Matthew Casey) of Waterford; her Papa Robert Bowersox, Jr. of Guys Mills; grandmother Deb Fisk (William) of Titusville; great grandmother Rita Derby of Guys Mills; siblings Kolten Blanchard (fiance McKenzie) of Titusville, Michaela Bowersox (fiance Parker Cooper) of Cooperstown, Michal Bowersox Jr., Isabell Bowersox, Abigail Bowersox, Joshua Blystone all of Edinboro, Sophia Fornal of Guys Mills; her aunts and uncles Rob Bowersox (Kate), Sarah Merry (Jim), Wendy Conner (Keith), Luke McCarthy (Paige), Roy Blystone (Jessica); many cousins with whom she was very close Aunt Randi, Aunt Chelsie, Trent, Skylar, Dylan, Nichole, Maverick, Shanelle, Zachary, Aaron, Travis, Paige and Miranda.

May she rest in peace, joining her beloved older sister Ashlee Marie; Granny Carol Bonnell Bowersox; Grandma Fran McCarthy; Grandfather Mac McCarthy, and great grandparents Paps & Grams (Dorcy & Ielene Bowersox).
