Lucille Hamilton, 93, of Meadville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 30, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Lucille was born at the former Spencer Hospital in Meadville, on July 28, 1932, a daughter of the late Leo and Irene (Smith) Mercier.
On October 24, 1953, Lucille married Dale Hamilton; he preceded her in death on September 6, 2013.
She was a member of St. Hippolyte Church and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a former member of St. Peter and Paul's Church prior to its closing.
A 1950 graduate of the former Randolph High School, Lucille attended elementary school in Black Ash. In her younger years, she had worked in the cafeteria at the former Talon and at the former Woolworth Store. She was a lifetime member of East Mead Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. For many years she served as a Poll worker for the Democratic party.
From the time Lucille married Dale, her life revolved around her family and the family farm. She took great pride in hand feeding the new born calves. A hard worker all of her life, she delighted in being a farmer's wife, a homemaker and mother. She was true to the term "farm to table", always working in the garden and cooking meals from her harvest. She and Dale were sure to instill a hard work ethic to their children. Lucille never missed the opportunity to send a greeting card; she thought of everyone. Time spent with family was everything to her. She will be sadly missed.
Lucille is survived by eight children Joseph Hamilton (Debbie), Debbie Hamilton, Rose Ann Gordon (Douglas), Gerald Hamilton (Sherry), John Hamilton (Laurie), James Hamilton (Linda), Lucetta "Lucy" Chase (Bill), Bonnie Stein (Bob) all of Meadville, 18 grandchildren Shawna Terry (Matthew), Cassandra Sprenkle (Dan), Corey Hamilton (Brittany) Christopher Gordon (Jen), Joshua Gordon (companion Heather), Arin Mattson, Kim Lippert (Tyler), Alicia Kasper (companion Adam), Julie Hamilton (fiance' Nidjha), Melissa Friedrich (Josh), Ryan Hamilton, Ashly Hamilton, Amanda Hamilton (companion Stephen), Andrew Hamilton (Paige), Jennifer Chinn, Matthew Chase, Caleb Stein (Chrysten), Gabriel Stein; 29 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister Ann Semler of Guys Mills; a sister in law Ruth Mercier of Meadville; many nieces and nephews.
