Lois Wellmon

Lois Wellmon, 87, formerly of Denny's Corners, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020 at home, surrounded by family.

Lois was born in Meadville, on January 25, 1933, a daughter of the late Harry and Freda Marie (Gibbens) Best.

On September 14, 1954 Lois married Robert Amon Wellmon; he survives.

She was a member of Denny Chapel, Meadville.

Lois was a 1952 graduate of Meadville High School. Over the years she had been employed as an inspector for the former Talon, Inc., as a baker at Second District Elementary School for Crawford Central School District, for C& J Industries, NT&T and Spectrum Control. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle and 500, with her friends. Lois also enjoyed baby sitting Josh, Matt and Sam Svetz. She loved being with her family, especially attending school and sporting events of her children and grandchildren. In her earlier years she volunteered as a 4-H leader. She will be remembered as a hard worker, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband Bob of 65 years Lois is survived by a daughter Diane Gigone and her husband Rodney of Meadville, two sons Keith Wellmon and his wife Nancy of Meadville, Kevin Wellmon and his companion Geri Strickland of Okeechobee, FL, a daughter in law Brenda Wellmon of Fort Worth, TX, seven grandchildren Krista Gigone and her husband Dr. Eric Shang, Kendra Fischer and her husband Sam, Michael Wellmon and his wife Amber, Kelsey Wellmon and Katie Wellmon, Mathew King, Lareina Burrows, four great grandchildren Theodore Shang, Frederick Shang, Henry Fischer, Eva Fischer, a sister Hazel Nogee of Meadville, nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, a son David Wellmon, two sisters Irene Messerall and her husband Arden, Garaldine Boor and her husband Peter, a brother Richard Best and his wife Audrey, two brothers-in-law Frank Nogee and Peter Boor.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 1:30-3 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral and Committal Services will follow at 3 PM with Pastor David Jenkins of Denny Chapel officiating. The service will be live streamed via our Facebook page (Stephen P. Miner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.)

Lois will be laid to rest Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Crawford County for the exceptional care they provided.
