Lois D. MacQuarrie

Lois D. MacQuarrie, 96, of Meadville, passed away at home on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Lois was born in Manhattan, NY, on October 5, 1929, and was adopted by the late Kirk and Arlene (Kingsley) Dowler.

She had been married to Robert MacQuarrie; he predeceased her September 1, 1999.

An active member of First Christian Church, she would play the piano for the children and for occasional services.

Lois spent her career serving others as a registered nurse. Following her graduation from City Hospital School of Nursing in 1950, she worked as a private in-home nurse, a floor nurse, and a surgical floor nurse for over 25 years. Then she continued working as a nurse for the Medicine Shoppe and in-home care. She enjoyed traveling and walking with her daughter, Devonne, and she loved helping others.

Lois is survived by three daughters Diana MacQuarrie (Douglas Herchuck) of Pittsburgh, Denise Butler of Newberry, FL, Devonne MacQuarrie of Meadville and grandson Joshua Butler of Washington state.

She was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Robert Dowler.

Visitation is 3-6 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 404 CHESTNUT STREET, MEADVILLE, and also from 10-11 AM on Friday, January 9, 2026, at First Christian Church, 503 North Main St., Meadville, where services will follow at 11 AM with Robert McGuire officiating.

Lois will be laid to rest in Sunnyside Cemetery.
