John Joseph Gerard Walter

John Joseph Gerard Walter, 71, Meadville, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Edinboro Manor.

John was born in Philadelphia, on December 10, 1953, a son of the late Meredith Lee and Jeannette Louise (Gaffin) Walter.

On May 20, 2015, John married Jessica Krein; she survives.

A 20 year veteran, John entered the Air Force on April 28, 1972 and served his country honorably until April 30, 1992. A member of the SAC Command, he attained the rank of TSgt and was awarded many medals and ribbons. Most of his service time was spent at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, and served two years in Vietnam. For more than 20 years he counseled young adults and teens in career training helping them secure employment through Job Corps. John had a passion for motorcycles and owned many Harleys over the years. He loved long rides and attending Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Michael Walter.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

John will be laid to rest in Black Hills National Cemetery, SD.
