John L. Caretti, 76, of Saegertown, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at home.
John was born in Meadville, on February 19, 1946, a son of the late Louis J. and Anna Mae (Talarico) Caretti.
On October 2, 1976 John married Bonita "Bonnie" Gaines; she survives.
A 1964 graduate of Meadville High School, John was also a 1968 graduate of Edinboro College where he majored in Political Science. In his younger years John was employed in sales by the former Smith Gray Cadillac Dealership. In 1983 he established Realty Settlement, Inc. where, although semi-retired, was still working and serving as President. A former member of Taylor Hose, John was a member of the Saegertown Sportsman Club, the Gin Boys, and a 45+ year member of the Meadville Country Club where he served as past President. An avid golfer, John enjoyed the fact that both he and his twin brother, Joe, shot a hole in one on the same hole of the Country Club, within in days of each other. Also an avid hunter, he was proud to have successfully harvested the turkey grand slam. His cooking skills were excellent and enjoyed by many, especially his home made spaghetti sauce. Spending the winter months in Florida brought him much happiness. His greatest joy in life was time spent with his grandchildren and he loved following their football, baseball, and school events. John will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, of 46 years, John is survived by a daughter Allison Caretti of Saegertown; two grandchildren Angelo and Avery Feleppa; a sister Julia Roth of Erie; his younger twin brother Joseph Caretti (Norma) of Meadville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his older brother Louis Caretti.
Per John's wishes, no services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's memory to Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 164, Saegertown, PA 16433.
Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
