John "Jack" Lyle Hormell, 79, of Clarks Mills, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Meadville Medical Center.
Jack was born in Uniontown, on December 19, 1942, a son of the late John and Althea (Strickler) Hormell.
On September 5, 1992, he married Karen Christie-Hormell; she survives. He had previously been married to Mary Alice Bishop.
Jack was employed as the Executive Director of The Center For Life Enrichment which was an agency that improved independence for individuals with disabilities. As part of his dedication to the Center For Life Enrichment, he participated in many fundraisers and events for the benefit of the organization. These included selling Christmas trees every December, taking part in charity golf tournaments, arranging boating trips for clients, and starting a program for local residence to donate used cars. He was extremely active and enjoyed cycling, boating, kayaking, gardening and worked as a school bus driver. His passion in life was assisting individuals with disabilities. He will be remembered for all his good works and will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife, Karen, Jack is survived by three children John W. Hormell of Fayetteville, AR, Hannah Hormell, Samuel Hormell, both of Clarks Mills; two grandchildren John Ryan Hormell, Marissa Renee Hormell; a brother Robert Hormell (Jean) of Watsontown; a niece Sarah Hormell of Philadelphia; two nephews Michael Hormell of CO, and Ben Hormell of Watsontown.
Private services will be held this summer.
