John J. Gens

John J. Gens, 63, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at Meadville Medical Center.
 
John was born in Dunkirk, NY, on August 24, 1955, a son of Martha (Martin) Gens and the late Ronald Gens.
 
In 1977, John married April Case; she preceded him in death on May 21, 2012.
 
In 1993 John established his own business Supercare Semi-Truck Wash on Perry Highway in Meadville.  He was proud of the business he built from the ground up and  enjoyed working there everyday, right up until the time of his sudden death.  From 1981 until 1993 he worked for Halliburton as a Core Specialist, traveling all over the world.  John was a graduate of Silver Creek High School, Silver Creek, NY.  In addition to his work, he enjoyed being a member of Vernon Central Hose Company and taking care of his cat, Phoebe. 
 
John is survived by his daughter Nicholle J. Gens and her husband Essen Offiong of Snellville, GA, a grandson Zion Offiong, his mother Martha Gens of Dunkirk, NY, two sisters Sally Aranzullo and her husband Joe of Rochester, NY, Wendy Gens of Dunkirk, NY, two brothers Monte Gens and his wife Jane of Dunkirk, NY, Marty Gens and his wife Cindy of Humble, TX,. Jake Dorundo, who was like a son to him, and his companion Julia Daley of Union City, many nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by a son Christopher Gens.
 
Family and friends are invited to Celebrate his Life on Thursday, April 4th from 6 to 8 at Vernon Central Hose Company, 16589 McMath Ave., Meadville. All attendees will need to be signed in upon arrival.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335. 

A parting word from his family: "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.  I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the softly fallen snow.  Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die."
