Jerry L. Hunter, 78, of Saegertown passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2026, surrounded by family.

Jerry was born in Union City on November 24, 1947, a son of the late Roy F. and Jean (Combs) Hunter, whom he loved very much.

Jerry joined the U.S. Navy in 1965. He graduated from the Hospital Corpsman School in Great Lakes, IL. He did his internship at Bethesday Hospital in Maryland, then went to Camp LeJeune, NC, for training in the U.S. Marines, where he served in Vietnam at a hospital as a corpsman.

On December 14, 1968 Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Sandy Bellinger. He then attended Edinboro University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology. He worked at Meadville Medical Center and eventually was Laboratory Manager. Jerry and Sandy started their home life and family in Saegertown. Jerry loved life! He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He served as Scoutmaster of Troop #254 and helped many troop members acquire their Eagle Scout Badge. Over the years Jerry had a BSA Adventure STEM troop, coached Little League, and assisted in Girl Scout activities. Whether walking along or canoeing in his beloved French Creek, he found much peace and joy there.

In addition to his wife, Sandy, of 57 years, Jerry is survived by children Beth Lawrence (Donny) and Daniel Hunter (Elyse); grandchildren Emma and Donavin Connor, Alexis, Cynthia, D.J. and Dylan Lawrence, Roan Hunter (fiance Tye), Raya and Grady Hunter, Les and Lena Palmer; brothers Harold Hunter (Mary), and Dennis Hunter (Pam).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Jean Hunter; and a brother, Larry.
