James "Buck" H. Buxton, Jr.

January 23, 1957 — July 18, 2025

Saegertown, PA

James "Buck" H. Buxton, Jr., 68, of Saegertown, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025, at Meadville Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born in New Castle, on January 23, 1957, a son of the late James H. and Rose (Frisina) Buxton, Sr. and was raised by his aunt Grace DeCrappio where he affectionally became known as The King Pin of Willow Alley.

On September 4, 1981 Jim married Cynthia "Cindy" Sorger; she survives.

Jim was a 1974 graduate of Meadville School. During his high school years and after, he worked at the former Lincoln Market and Meadville Malleable. He later gained employment with Meadville Forge and retired in 2018 with over 40 years of service. For many of those years he was a Set Up Supervisor and Union President. Jim was a long time member of the Italian Civic Club. He enjoyed following Pittsburgh Sports. He loved attending his son's sporting events and he had a life long passion for playing and coaching softball where he sometimes demonstrated how to be a poor winner and a poor looser. Everyone knew that behind Jim's stubborn personality was a very warm heart and he was fiercely loyal to his life long friends. He was proud of his Frisina heritage. His cooking skills came effortlessly, and he loved sharing with family and friends. Jim will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Cindy, of 43 years, Jim is survived by two sons Jarrod Buxton, Jordan Buxton both of TN; a sister Nancy Gabe of NC; nephews; great nephews; cousins Debbie, Marty, and Anthony who were more like siblings, and he remained especially close to Debbie all his life. He also leaves behind his canine buddy Violet.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother Robert Buckwalter and his in laws Arthur and Shirley Sorger, with whom he was very close.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11-2 on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 2 PM with Fr. Kyle Seyler, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Jim will be laid to rest in Gravel Run Cemetery.
