Jacob "JR" William Smith, STG2, age 22, of Meadville and Cochranton, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, as the result of a motorcycle accident
Jacob was born in Greenville, on December 4, 2002, a son of William Smith and Genevieve "Gen" (Lovell) Smith.
Jacob had been actively serving with distinction in the US Navy for the past three years, ten months. He was currently stationed in Rota, Spain, aboard the USS Roosevelt, DDG80. He was a highly valued Sonar Technician and crew member, known for his dedication, hard work, and positive attitude. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and Navy Pistol Sharpshooter Award.
Jacob is best known for his kind and very caring heart, always putting others before himself. He was captain of the MASH baseball team, enjoyed watching Anime', building Legos, serving his country in the Navy, playing video games with his brother and best friend, Wyett. Jacob was a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Jacob is survived by his parents Gen Smith of Meadville, William Smith (Lisa) of Cochranton; aunt Mandi Bruce (Dan) of Edinboro; siblings Scot Craft of Meadville, Kody Craft (Stephanie) of Hadley, Matthew Dugan (Angela) of Meadville, Matthew Craft of Austin, TX, Devanie Craft of Land o' Lakes, FL, Zachary Nageotte of Meadville, Wyett Smith currently stationed in Norfolk, VA; nieces and nephews Easton Craft, Brylee Craft, Mateo Burnett, Rylee Dugan, Josiah Hernandez, Zayne Anes, Lincoln Craft; many, many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandfather Donald (Moe) Bruce; grandparents Duane and Joanne Smith; and uncle James Smith.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
Funeral and committal services will be private with Full Military Honors.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-7 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Saegertown American Legion Post #205, 755 South St., Saegertown.
