Gloria J. Groves

Gloria J. Groves, 96, of Meadville, passed away suddenly Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Meadville Medical Center.

Gloria was born in Meadville, on June 14, 1927, a daughter of the late Forrest and Leda (Seiple) Patterson.

On July 17, 1948 Gloria married William S. Groves, Jr.; he preceded her in death on November 24, 2003.

She was a very active member of Saegertown United Methodist Church and a longtime member of United Methodist Women.

After 40 years of service, Gloria retired as a machine operator from the former Avtex Corporation. She was a member of the Woodcock Ladies, the Red Hat Society, the Eat and Travel Club, and Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed her monthly luncheons with her friends which began in 2007, reading, and playing card games with her beloved family. She will be missed.

Gloria is survived by two children Vicki DeRoss of Saegertown, Timothy C. Groves (Rosemarie) of Meadville; five grandchildren Chad, Nicole, and Patrick Booth, Dan and Brian DeRoss; eight great-grandchildren Owen, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Luka, Braiden, Ryan, Hunter and Brett; four great-great-grandchildren Lowen, Legend, Olivia and Lilliana; a sister Sandy Longstreth of Meadville; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was preceded in death by her siblings Forrest, Jr., Harold, Robert and Joan.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, with Rev. Jeff Little, Pastor, officiating.

Gloria will be laid to rest with her husband, Bill in Greendale Cemetery.
