Frances P. Best

Frances P. Best, 95, of Meadville, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at Wesbury United Methodist Community with her family at her side.

Frances was born in Meadville, on December 3, 1927, a daughter of the late Pietro and Antoinette (Corelli) Fera.

On August 4, 1956 Frances married Lawrence E. Best; he preceded her in death on August 21, 1991.

She was a life long member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, and volunteered with the funeral luncheons.

Frances had been employed by the former American Viscose for 38 years up until the plant closing. She went on to work in the bakery of the former County Market. She was a 1946 graduate of Meadville High School. Frances enjoyed cooking, baking, and was always prepared to feed someone. Whatever the occasion or holiday, Francis was ready and willing to make something special. She will be most remembered for her loving, caring way, and her one liners. She will be deeply missed.

Frances is survived by two children Jeffrey L. Best (Nilsa) of Hanahan, SC, Judy K. Galbo (Matthew) of Hanover; seven grandchildren Natalie Miller, Nicholas Scott Galbo, both of Shippensburg, Cristina Reyes-Smith, Ricky Reyes, Francesca Wylie all of Hanahan, SC, Alisha Cagle of Spartanburg, SC, Wendy Engle of Hanahan, SC; eleven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was preceded in death by three sisters Mary Petruso, Elizabeth SanFelice, Katie DeAngio, six brothers Paul, Peter, Dominic, Nicholas, Gregory and Anthony Fera; and longtime, special friend Pete Calomino.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11-1 on Wednesday, October 4, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 1 PM, with Fr. Kyle Seyler, Parochial Vicar of The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, officiating.

Francis will be laid to rest with her husband in St. Brigid Cemetery.
