With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Erin Fucci on July 26, 2025. Erin was a sweet, kind soul whose warmth and compassion touched everyone she met, including the many cats that were lucky to cross her path. She had an incredible gift for connecting with people—able to strike up conversations with anyone and talk for hours. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, quick wit, and the joy she brought to every gathering.
Erin was born on October 4, 1957, in Racine, Wisconsin, to Eric and Shirley Schroder, who preceded her in death. The youngest of five daughters, Erin grew up surrounded by the love and laughter of her sisters. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1979 and went on to enjoy a successful career as a Master Programmer for IBM.
After many years in Florida, fate intervened when Erin met her future husband of 23 years, Joe Fucci, while playing cribbage online. Their shared love blossomed into a beautiful marriage, and she moved to Meadville, Pennsylvania, where she quickly fell in love with the small-town charm and community.
A lifelong animal lover, Erin adored all animals, but none more than cats. Over her lifetime, she cared for more than 50 cats, each of them loved like her own children. Her compassion for animals was just one of the many ways she demonstrated her kindness and generosity.
Erin is survived by her husband, Joe Fucci; her stepchildren, Cari (Carissa) and Neil; and her beloved granddaughters, Abbigayle and Alivia. She is also survived by her sisters Gretchen Schroder Fish, Heidi Schroder Hughes, Cassandra Schroder Hillman, and Sarah Schroder Marano (and husband Frank), along with many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Per her wishes, no public service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society in Erin’s memory, reflecting her deep love for animals.
Erin’s light, love, and laughter will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
