Edward "Shorty" C. Shorts

Edward "Shorty" C. Shorts, 95, of Saegertown, passed away January 23, 2020, at Wesbury.

Shorty was born in Meadville, on February 13, 1924, a son of the late Calvin and Treva (Davison) Shorts.

On August 14, 1943 Edward married Beatrice Acker; she predeceased him January 30, 2018.

He was a member of Allida-Smith Wesleyan Church.

Shorty attended Meadville Schools and was a member of the US Army. He had worked for the former Hathaway Bread and Meadville Malleable prior to becoming employed by Erie Lackawanna, from which he retired. Shorty enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar and yodeling. He had a weekly country western radio program which aired on WMGW and well as Titusville radio. Edward also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.

Shorty is survived by daughters Judith Pears, Susan Walker (Richard), both of Saegertown, seven grandchildren Brent Pears, Julee McDaniel, Charlene Toy, Carrie Crouch, Melanie Merritt, Eileen Bish, Michael Walker, 23 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Bea of 74 years, he was predeceased by a granddaughter Trista Blackwelder, sisters Violet Jennes and Geraldine Perry.

Services will be private.

He will be laid to rest in Acker-Roger Cemetery.
