Donald Lloyd Smock, age 89 of Meadville, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Wesbury Nursing Home.
He was born on February 27, 1936 in Meadville. The son of the late Lloyd K. Smock and Harriett M. Corey Smock.
On January 31,1996 he married Ellen Faye Rawlings and they shared their life together for 35 years. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2004 and a brother Ronald R. Smock on September 18, 2010.
Don graduated from Meadville High School in 1954 and joined the Army where he proudly served his country for 33 total years of service. Four years active duty as a marksman on U.S. National Competition Rifle Team and 19 years US Army Reserves. He retired in1996 as First Seargent United States Army Reserve Center, Battery B, Meadville.
He built a career as a Plumber / Pipefitter for several area businesses and was a member of the Plumbers / Steam Fitters union for 19 years. He retired from Deeter Plumbing in September 1996.
Don was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. He was in several bowling leagues and a member of the Meadville VFW. He enjoyed all competitive rifle and archery competitions as a member of the Black Ash Sportsman’s Club and Meadville Field Archers.
Don is survived by his beloved companion of 20 years, Shirley Oster, his sister Karen Smock Eiler, his son Ken L. Smock and his wife Judy Tomer Smock of Guys Mills; son Kevin A. Smock of Conneaut Lake, and daughter Ellen Faye Smock of Meadville, He has 4 grandchildren Joe Smock of Guys Mills, Corey Smock of Christiansburg, VA; and Serenity and Austin Smock of Meadville, He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren Addison, Coen and Carter Smock and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville. Memorial contributions can be made to the hunger outreach Food For Thought, 30935 Russell Road, Townville, PA 16360, or a charity of your choice.
