David K. Miller

David K. Miller, 99, of Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Meadville Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

David was born in Pittsburgh, on January 27, 1926, a son of the late William and Martha (Laverick) Miller.

On October 25, 1950 David married Mary Ciccone; she preceded him in death on February 22, 2019.

A graduate of Pittsburgh Public Schools, David enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 serving in the Pacific Theater on a LSM landing craft. He obtained the rank of Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He was honorably discharged on May 10, 1954.

Moving to Saegertown, he owned a Refuse service for many years. He was previously employed by P. & L. E. Railroad, and Superior Refuse in Pittsburgh. David was active in the community, serving in many organizations including Saegertown Lions Club where he served as President, Secretary and Treasurer; the Woodcock Township Zoning Board where he served as Chairman; and a life member of Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department, serving as the Fire Police Captain for many years. A life member of American Legion Post #205, VFW Post #2006, and the Meadville Elks BPO #219 where he served as Trustee and Secretary, he was also a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Crawford County Shrine Club, having served as President in 1991, was active in the Zem Zem Shrine of Erie, where he was a life member and Potentate (President) in 1995, a member of the Crawford County Motor Patrol, of the Legion of Honor, and the Shrine Golf League. Additionally he served as President and Treasurer of the National L.S.M./L.S.M.R. Navy Association.

David enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mary, of 68 years, hunting, golfing, and solving cross word puzzles.

David is survived by seven children David Miller (Loretta), Donald Miller (Judy) both of Meadville, Robert Miller (Terri) of Rogersville, TN, Richard Miller (Suzie) of Conneaut Lake, Darlene Means (David), Jeff Miller (Kit), Donna Amy (Jim) all of Saegertown; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 3-8 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN, where a Masonic Service will be held at 5:30.

Private Funeral Services will be held with Pastor Jeff St. Clair of Saegertown United Methodist Church officiating. Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will follow.
