David L. Wagner

David L. Wagner, 77, of Meadville, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 24, 2023, at home.

David was born in Meadville on January 17, 1946, a son of the late Alton and Mabel (Rung) Wagner.

On December 27, 1980, David married Antoinette "Toni" Peterson; she survives.

He attended St. Brigid Church.

David was a 1963 graduate of Cochranton High School.  He was a hard worker from an early age, working on the family farm until the mid 1990's.  David later went on to be employed by the former Quaker Distributing and W. L. Dunn Construction Company.  He also served as an East Fairfield Township Supervisor for a couple of terms until 2015.  David was proud to have had a private pilot license in his earlier days, and was happy to take his family and friends on short flights.   He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Penn State Nittany Lions sports teams.  He also enjoyed following high school and college basketball, being outdoors, golfing, hunting, gardening, and watching Western movies.  David will be remembered as a devoted family man and a friend who lent a helping hand to many.  He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Toni, of nearly 43 years, David is survived by two daughters, Courtney Ferrara (Christopher), of Lancaster, and Jenna McElhinney (Nicholas), of Cochranton; two grandchildren, Elena and Lucas Ferrara; a brother, Bernard Wagner, of Cochranton; a sister, Diane Opalka (Leonard), of Manistee, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Frederic Wagner.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 PM.  Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 10-11 AM.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas officiating.

David will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery.
