Clyde E. Cornell, 88, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, September 8th, at Meadville Medical Center, with his family by his side.
Clyde was born in Meadville, on July 14, 1936, a son of the late Walter and Giva (Crecraft) Cornell.
On July 15, 1961 Clyde married Helen Ward, she preceded him in death on May, 23, 2014.
He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Meadville.
Clyde started working for Erie Lackawana Railroad and retired from Conrail Railroad after many years of service, working in the yard. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1954. An avid coon hunter, Clyde enjoyed hunting with his Bluetick Coonhound dogs and believed they were the superior breed. He was a member of the Crawford County Coon Hunters, a die hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan, and enjoyed listening to country western music, especially Conway Twitty and Reba McEntire. Cyde found pleasure swinging on his porch and his twice daily trips to McDonalds, for his favorite coffee. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, patient man who loved and cared for his family. He will be missed.
Clyde is survived by five children Walter Cornell (companion Tammy) of Meadville, Birt Cornell of Albion, Clyde Cornell (Companion Jean), Giva Hoague (companion Harry), Marilyn Frisina (Jon) all of Meadville, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, six nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife Helen of 52 years Clyde was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Dilley and a brother Merle Cornell.
A graveside service will be announced in the future with full military honors at Kiser Hill Cemetery.
