Chester "Chet" Mott, 85, of Meadville, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026.
Born on October 8, 1940, Chet grew up in Cambridge Springs and lived most of his life in Linesville with Lois, his wife of 67 years.
Over his lifetime, Chet worked as a salesman, a bartender, and a bus driver. Chet loved playing golf especially with Lois, his son John and grandson JD whether it was at Oakland Beach, Whispering Pines or planning a trip to Oglebay in West Virginia. He also spent many summers in golf leagues, finishing the last few years at Venango Valley with John. Chet enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins on television - especially with good wings and beer. Other joys included family vacations, hosting annual summer picnics, watching Jeopardy, competing with Lois in bridge tournaments, and playing the lottery every week.
Chet is survived by his wife Lois (Porter); children Beth Wynne (Tim), Rena Garland (Rich), John Mott (Laura); eight grandchildren who he was proud to have as his legacy: Alex and Zack Wynne, Shannon Wynne Benz, JD and Ryan Hanaway, Hunter, Tori and Rachel Mott; one great grandchild, Jaylee Nybakke; and one brother Jim Mott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Jane Mott; his siblings Roland Jr., Donald, Elaine, and Carol.
To honor Chet's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
