Cathy Lynne Acker

Cathy Lynne (Floyd) Acker, 81, of Saegertown, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie.

Cathy was born in Meadville on October 16, 1943, a daughter of the late Roy W. and Harriett A. (Andrews) Floyd.

She was a lifelong resident of Crawford County and graduated from Saegertown High School in 1961.

A well-known watercolor and pastel artist, Cathy loved to paint Crawford and Erie County scenes and loved the change of seasons. She had many local art shows and her work was displayed in many galleries, locally and nationally. Her paintings sold all over the United States. For many years she designed and made wedding gowns, prom gowns and ice skating costumes. She was a devoted student of American History and could always be found, book in hand.

Cathy was very active in the community. She chaired the building of the current Saegertown Area Library serving as board vice-president for many years, specializing in library fund raising. She was secretary of the Saegertown Heritage Society, a long time member of the Saegertown Women's Improvement Club,, she held many offices and chaired the Miss Saegertown Pageant for several years. She was a member of Saegertown Methodist Church. Cathy was an avid bird watcher and loved living on French Creek. She cherished all the good times with family and friends.

On April 2, 1960 Cathy married her loving husband Robert "Bob" Acker; he survives. Also surviving is her son Larry Acker (Sandra Hoogstad) of Erie, her daughter Rebecca (Acker) Donofrio of Leesburg, VA, three grandchildren Vincent Rafter (Kerrin) of Herndon, VA, Alexandra (Acker) Deible (John) of Saegertown, Collin Rafter (Companion Emma) of Chesapeake, VA, four great grandsons Robert Duke and Ari Thomas Rafter, John Carter and Jackson Taylor Deible, a sister Dr. Susan (Floyd) Hreczkosie (Victor) of Saegertown and many dear cousins.

The family is honoring her wish that there be no services and instead ask those of you who knew her, to hold her in your hearts. Memorial contributions can be made to Saegertown Area Library, Box 871 or the Saegertown Heritage Society Box 449 both of Saegertown, PA 16433.
