Carole Anne Hornstein

Carole Anne Hornstein, 80, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, at St. Vincent Health System, Erie, with her family by her side.

Carole was born in Meadville, on October 20, 1945, a daughter of the late Alexander and Gertrude (Neumeyer) Koket.

On May 3, 1964, Carole married Ronald A. Hornstein; he survives.

Carole was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church and a former member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ.

After many years of service, Carole retired as the Executive Director of the Meadville YWCA. She had previously been employed by the former Hornstein's Furniture and Appliance, Kroger's, Talon, Inc. in the Accounting Department, and as a floral designer for Duerr's Flowers. In 1963 Carole graduated from Meadville Area Senior High School. Over the years she was a member of the Meadville Woman's Club, the Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club, the Meadville Elks Lodge #219, Vernon Central Hose, and Station 3 Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Carole was a selfless woman who loved her family and friends deeply. She enjoyed traveling to many places with her husband, Ron, son Shawn, daughter in law Jackie, and her granddaughter Savannah whom she loved deeply. Carole loved everything that her family and friends loved, including the holidays, family dinners, flowers, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and NASCAR. She treasured time spent with family, friends, neighbors, and her best friend, Shirley Watts. In turn, Carole was deeply loved by all; she will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband, Ron, of 62 years, Carole is survived by a son Shawn Hornstein (Jackie) of Beaver County; a beloved granddaughter Savanah Hornstein; and a sister Dotty Schloss of Erie.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11 AM - 1 PM on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, where a Memorial Service will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Jeff St. Clair officiating.
