Carol Sue (Snodgrass) Cease

Carol Sue (Snodgrass) Cease, 81, of Meadville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 27, 2024, following a courageous 10 month battle with cancer.

Carol was born in Buffalo, NY on May 13, 1943, a daughter of the late David G. and Bernice S. (Steen) Snodgrass.

On October 8, 1963, Carol married David Cease in Jamestown, NY; he survives. 

Carol was a 1961 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School. As a teenager she was a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls, and eventually became an advisor. She worked as a lab technician at Meadville City Hospital and assisted with autopsies before the birth of her daughters. Carol worked as the head cook at Meadville Area Senior High School for many years. She retired from Crawford Central School District as the Food Service Director, where she implemented the Breakfast Program, the Lunch Bunch Club and the Baking Program. Carol was a member of Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary and volunteered at the gift shoppe, ordering new gift items and decorating. She took pride in decorating her home for every holiday, both inside and outside, having won the Meadville Chamber of Commerce outside Christmas Decorating Contest. Carol loved flower gardening and won the Garden of the Month for her talents. She was a member of New Beginnings Church of God. Following retirement, she taught herself to paint with acrylics on slate and antique farm milk cans and was the Grand Champion at the Crawford County Fair for one of her artistic creations. 

In addition to her husband, David, of 61 years, Carol is survived by two daughters Deborah Nichols and Diane Chimiak both of Meadville; a grandson Aaron Chimiak; a sister Kathleen Marendo; a brother in law Dennis Cease (Jackie); a niece Stephanie Nichol (Scott) and a nephew Jeffrey Marendo.

In addition to her parents Carol was preceded in death by a son in law Richard Chimiak and a close cousin Jack Snodgrass, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to call from 12-2 Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 2 PM, with Pastor Julie Lamberson and Pastor Curtis Clark, officiating.

Private Burial will take place in Greendale Cemetery.
