Betty J. Davern

Betty J. (Walls) Davern, 96, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Wesbury United Methodist Community, with her sons by her side.

Betty was born in Woodcock Township on August 10, 1929, a daughter of the late Joseph Horace and Grendola (Sutton) Walls.

On November 27, 1948 Betty married William E. Davern; he preceded her in death on February 24, 2010.

She attended St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

Betty attended Meadville schools. She was a dedicated and loving mother, homemaker who enjoyed and took pride in taking care of her family. She loved going dancing and tailgating at intermissions, playing cards, especially solitaire and 500 Rummy.

Betty is survived by two sons Larry V. Davern and his wife Cheryl of Meadville, Jeffrey J. Davern of Erie, a daughter in law Nancy Price Davern of Erie, three grandchildren Jillian Davern Lambert husband Michael of Pittsburgh, Joshua M. Davern wife Alyssa of Blooomington, IN and Jacob J. Davern wife Lucia of Fairview, four great grandchildren Owen William and Alexis Louise Davern, of Bloomington, IN, Sloane Everleigh and Daxton Benito Davern of Fairview, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband William of 61 years, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters Anna Mae Walls, Margaretta Walls, six brothers Joseph H. Walls, Jr., Paul Edward Walls, Jack Sutton Walls, Sr., Robert Frank Walls, Jerry Walls, Walden Wallie Walls; two dearest friends Betsy Eldred, and Beverly Dahl.

Family and friends are invited to call from 1-4 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 4 PM, with nephew, Jerry Hunter, officiating.

Betty will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery.
