Barbara J. Jockel Smith, age 89, of Meadville, and formerly of Conneaut Lake and Troy Hill, Pittsburgh PA, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on June 22, 2026. She is the daughter of Fidelis (Blondie) and Hazel Waugh Jockel.
Barb was the beloved wife of William H. Smith, Jr. (Bill), loving mother of Cindy (Mike) Fiorillo, W. David and Ken Smith; mother-in-law of Frances Smith; grandmother of Linda Smith (fiancée Mike Chess), Bill (Haley) Smith, Caren Fiorillo, Kristi (Trevor) Berryhill, and Emily Smith; great grandma to Michael, Wesson, Rocky, Giuliana, Cannon, Michael, Hailee and Teagan.
Her beloved surviving nieces and nephews are George Graf, Jim (Gail) Graf, Joanne Seitz, Debra (Dennis) Taxacher, Randy (Donna) Kincaid, Doug (Kim) Jockel, Scott (Sharyl) Jockel, Michael (Debra) Jockel, as well as brothers-in-law Ron (Glenna), Gary (Julie) and George (Jackie) Smith.
Barbara’s deceased loving siblings are Dorothy (Bob) Kincaid, F. Harry (Lorraine) Jockel, Gloria (George) Graf, David (Charlotte) Jockel, and brother-in-law, Bud Smith; nephews Harry Jockel, Gerard “Jerry” Graf, and Ron Kincaid.
Barbara’s endearing friends are Ann Smith, Trina (Al) Oldakowski, Jeannine Lyons, Dale (Bette) Funkhouser, Angeline, Patty and Ashley at Meadville Active Aging, Nurse Kyli Burger, as well as the staff at Park Ave. Marquette Bank.
Barb lived a life devoted to loving God and her family. She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help whenever needed by her family, friends, or church.
She loved supporting her children and grandchildren, especially at their sporting events, and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Her visits to Florida with her beloved husband, Bill, brought many cherished memories, including trips to the beach and the Daytona 500. Barb was also a proud breast cancer survivor.
When Bill was confined to a nursing home, Barb faithfully spent her days by his side, providing comfort, love, and companionship.
Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at New Beginnings Church, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 AM with Pastor Keith Mitchell officiating. Funeral lunch will follow.
Burial will follow at Queen of the Americas Cemetery in Conneaut Lake.
