Andrew "Andy" John Battista, Jr., 72, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at UPMC-Hamot.

Andy was born in Meadville, on April 9, 1952, a son of Julia (Gaglione) and the late Andrew Battista, Sr.

He was a lifelong member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church.

After many years of service, Andy retired from Channellock. He had previously been employed by the former Singer Heatrex.  Andy was a graduate of Meadville High School.  He was a member of VFW Post #2006 where he spent time with his friends, often telling jokes and putting a smile on the face of those around him.  An avid bowler, since his high school years, Andy was a premier bowler in the local association in the 1980's and 1990's and was inducted in to the W.C.C.B.A. Hall of Fame in 2002. He competed in dozens of local and state tournaments as well as nearly 30 national tournaments, including the annual ABC Tournament.  He was a member of the local association for more than 38 years and was also a member of the Millionaires Club, knocking down more than 1.3 million pins in his lifetime. He was a tough competitor.  Andy also enjoyed golfing and was proud to have accomplished a hole-in-one.  He was an avid Penn State and New York Yankees fan.  Anyone who knew Andy, knew that he loved caring for his mom.  They enjoyed visiting the casinos together and time spent with one another.  He will be remembered for his kind, gentle spirit and will be sadly missed and forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

In addition to his mother, Julia, Andy is survived by aunts, uncles and many cousins with whom he was very close.
