Albert "Gay" Deeter

Albert "Gay" Deeter, 76, of 27214 Deeter Rd., Cochranton, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Meadville Medical Center.

Gay was born in Geneva, PA, on November 7, 1941, a son of the late Albert L. and Mary Jane (Halterman) Deeter.

On November 6, 1964 Gay married Mary A. Nemeth; she survives.

From 1970 until November of 1994, when his health began to decline, Gay owned and operated Gay's Auto Body. Prior to that he had worked at several area body shops. He was a life long resident of Deeter Road and a former member of Elks BPO #219. All of his life, Gay was a hard worker. For many years he and his wife Mary volunteered their time and energy taking care of two older cemeteries that had been neglected. Together they mowed, weeded, repaired and replaced old foundations. He also volunteered as Peters Cemetery Vice President and care taker for a number of years. An avid outdoors man, Gay loved cutting wood, gardening, hunting, grafting trees and selling Christmas trees. No matter what Gay did, he took great pride in his work. Among other things, he will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his unconditional love of family and will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Mary, of 53 years Gay is survived by three children David Deeter (Diane), Christina Vanderhoof (Brad), Scott Deeter (Denise) all of Cochranton; thirteen grandchildren Matthew (Jen), Melissa (Kyle), Monica (Steven), Megan (Nigel), Julia, Stevie, Kayla (Christopher), Sean (Dominica), Joshua (Willow), Cody (Elizabeth), Josie (Mark), Tyler (Danielle), Dreux; eight great grandchildren; two sisters Fay Staudt (Bernie), Mary Lou Deeter; a brother James Deeter (Pat) all of Cochranton; two sisters in law Helen "Gert" Kaltenbaugh of Meadville, Priscilla Deeter of Greenville; two brothers in law John Kaltenbaugh of Meadville, Steve "Jim" Nemeth of Cochranton; two aunts Charlsie Seeley of SC, Arlene Halterman of Conneautville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog Spike, with whom he shared a deep mutual love.

In addition to his parents, Gay was preceded in death by a brother Mason Deeter.
