Aaron Joseph Jardina, 37, of 18177 Huson Road, Saegertown, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Aaron was born in Meadville, on May 10, 1978, a son of Anthony Joseph and Judith Lynn (Held) Jardina.
On June 28, 2003, Aaron married Jennifer Schrage; she survives.
He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
An active duty veteran, Aaron joined the US Navy in January, 1999 as a Disbursing Clerk. He attended Basic Training at Great Lakes Recruit Training Command and completed Disbursing Clerk School in Meridian, MS. From August, 1999 until March, 2003 Aaron was stationed on the USS Saipan (LHA-2) and from July -December, 2000 he completed his Mediterranean deployment. In March, 2003, Aaron began as a Navy career counselor allowing him to support, enhance and guide sailors during their careers. From March, 2003 until April, 2007 he served at the Navy Recruiting District (NRD) in Pittsburgh; from May, 2007 until March 2011 he served at the NRD in Ohio; from April 2011 until February, 2014 at the NRD in Michigan; and from March, 2014 until the present time, at the NRD in Ohio. Aaron had attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer on September 16, 2009 and throughout his Navy career, earned several honors including multiple Leadership Awards, two Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and multiple letters of commendation. Aaron was proud to have served his country honorably for the past seventeen years and was still on active duty right up until his death. He will be remembered for his strong character and courage.
Aaron was a 1996 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School. An outdoor enthusiast, Aaron enjoyed cutting wood, deer hunting, ice fishing, spending time in the woods and following the New York Mets.
In addition to his wife Jennifer of twelve years, Aaron is survived by a son Brady, a daughter Haley both at home, his parents Anthony Joseph and Judith Lynn Jardina of Cambridge Springs, two brothers Anthony Paul Jardina and his wife Karen of Pompano Beach, FL, Adam Michael Jardina and his wife Sherri of Cambridge Springs, maternal grandmother Betty Held of Cambridge Springs, paternal grandmother Betty Sterle of Johnstown.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 6-8 on Monday, January 11, at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:45 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 M on Tuesday at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor, officiating.
Aaron will be laid to rest, with Full Military Honors, in Gravel Run Cemetery.
