William T. Colter

William T. Colter, 87, of 401 Main St., Saegertown, went home to Jesus on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at UPMC Medical Center-Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.

Bill was born in Warren, on March 12, 1926, a son of the late Robert E. and Clara (Goodwill) Colter.

On May 15, 1992 Bill married Genevieve 'Genny' L. Stainbrook Mona; she preceded him in death on January 23, 2005. In addition to his parents and his wives, Anne and Billie, Bill was also preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

He was a member of Watson Run Presbyterian Church, Meadville.

In 1980 Bill retired from Bell Telephone where he had been employed for many years. Following his retirement he worked at Conneaut Lake Park and Sherwin Williams, Meadville. A veteran of WW II, Bill entered the US Navy on November 1, 1944 and served his country honorably until his discharge on March 16, 1946. He was a member of the Pioneer Group. An avid golfer, Bill loved to play golf at Whispering Pines.

Bill is survived by ten children Kathy Perry and her husband David of Cambridge Springs, Brenda Jo Wetsell and her husband Daniel of Blooming Valley, Dr. Aaron Edwards and his wife Cynthia of Gig Harbor, WA, Lenny Stites and his wife Patty of Saegertown, Larry Stites and his friend Jen of Meadville, Sue Stites and her friend Vicke of Titusville, Kathy Sparks and her husband Brian of Meadville, Molly Ann Gray and her husband Robert of Pittsburgh, Tom Stites and his wife Lynn of Lakeland, TN, Tim Colter and his wife Liz of Tega Cay, SC, 20 grandchildren Julie Scott and her husband Ed, Brenton Steiger, Amanda Steiger and her friend Bill Burlingame, Clint Steiger and his wife Carrie, Joshua Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Makenna Edwards, Meghan Edwards, Marie Magee and her husband Dave, Ernie Gray and his wife Kristen Sciulli, Benjamin Gray, Stephen Gray, Drue Gray, Christopher Sparks, Michael Sparks, Tommy Stites and his wife Vonda, Gina Stites, Stephanie Rogers, Allison Rogers, William Rogers, 18 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two brothers Delbert Colter and his wife Jean of Hermitage, Robert James Colter and his wife Catherine of IL, several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 6, 2013, from 4:30-8:30 and on Monday, October 7, 2013, from 3:30-4:30 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM on Monday with Rev. Frank C. Duncan, HR, Pastoral Care of Watson Run Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 201,3 at 10:00 AM, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
