William E. Mosso of Meadville, PA, died on Monday February 15, 2021, at home with his loving wife, Viola B. Boyd-Mosso, by his side. He was 92.
William was born on March 21, 1928, the son of William and Lula Mosso of Jersey Shore, PA.
He proudly served his country in the US Army as a Parachute Rigger/Repairman. After his service, William attended Bucknell University and in 1951 received a Bachelor of Science, and then received his master’s in Education at The Pennsylvania State University in 1968. He went on to work until his retirement for Penn State, at Behrend College, as the Coordinator of Training & Program Development for Continuing Education. William enjoyed fishing and hunting. He never missed opening day of trout season with his son and enjoyed time with great friends at the Stover’s hunting camp. He was a lifelong fan of Penn State and attended football games and tailgated with Viola and a wonderful group of friends. William is a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He and Viola hosted and aided in fundraising events for Penn State including steak dinners and an annual golf outing. William was a kind man who loved his family and friends. He always looked for ways to lend a hand.
He attended Emmanuel Community Church.
William was preceded in death by his first wife Maxine Mosso, and his son Craig Mosso both of Erie, PA, his son Bruce Boyd of Meadville, PA and his sister Arlene Mosso of Jersey Shore, PA.
He is survived by is his wife Viola B. Boyd-Mosso, his daughter Karen Palmer and husband Jay, all of Meadville, his grandchildren Brent Mosso of Erie, PA, Heather Pickens and husband Jeff of Annapolis, MD, Holly Ross and husband Tim of San Diego, CA, and Travis Palmer of Meadville, and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank niece Denise Estes Wisinski and Karen Palmer for their extraordinary care of William.
A Celebration of Life will be held for both William and his wife, Viola, on Friday, July 16, 2021, from 9-11 AM at Oakgrove Park Pavillion, 10902 Oakgrove Ave., Meadville. They passed away just two and a half weeks apart from each other.
William will be laid to rest in Jersey Shore Cemetery, Jersey Shore, PA.
Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
