Thomas A. Knoll

Thomas A. Knoll, 90, of 455 Chestnut St., Meadville, formerly of 367 Benson Ave., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Juniper Village.

Thomas was born in Erie, on April 6, 1924, a son of the late Eugene P. and Sarah (Rinderle) Knoll.

On June 12, 1948 Thomas married Iris M. Floyd; she preceded him in death on November 18, 2003.

He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

A Veteran of the US Army Air Corps, Thomas served as an Engineer Gunner on a B-24 during WW II in the European Theater. He retired from Penelec in 1986 after 35 years of service. A life member of East Erie Turners Club, he was also a member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219.

Thomas is survived by two daughters Rosemary K. Perkoski and her husband Tom of Conneaut, OH, Barbara K. Sacco and her husband Don of Cochranton, six grandchildren Alyssa K. Rainier and her husband David of Australia, Jason H. Giffen and his wife Elizabeth of San Diego, CA, Michelle E. Giffen-Lee and her husband Stephen of New York City, NY, Michael J.T. Sacco and his wife Rhiannon of Meadville, Matthew D. F. Sacco and his wife Karen of Independence, OH, Donald F. Sacco, Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS, nine great grandchildren, with a 10th one on the way.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Iris, of 55 years, Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers E. Paul Knoll, George J. Knoll and J. Joseph Knoll.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 27, 2015 at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. James Piszker of Mercyhurst University, officiating.

Following Military Honors by VFW Post # 2006, Thomas will be laid to rest next to his wife, Iris, in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
