Shirley Mae Stearns

Shirley Mae Stearns, 86, of 6755 Lincoln Road, Jackson, MI, formerly of Meadville and Saegertown, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017, at home.

Shirley was born in Reynoldsville on May 18, 1930, a daughter of the late Samuel Michael and Hallie Faye (Howlett) Keihl.

On June 9, 1946 Shirley married Robert L. Stearns; he preceded her in death on June 11, 1993.

Over the years she had attended Cochranton United Methodist Church and Saegertown United Methodist Church.

After more than eight years of service, Shirley retired from Spectrum Control, Inc., Saegertown. Prior to that she had been employed by the former Abex Federal Credit Union, and by several area restaurants and bakeries. She attended Meadville schools and earned her GED from Penncrest School District in 1975. Shirley enjoyed reading, especially Danielle Steele novels and she loved to travel.

Shirley is survived by three children Jeanetta Stemm and her husband Steve of Jackson, MI, David L. Stearns of his wife Jeanne of Saegertown, William K. Stearns and his wife Candy of Cochranton, nine grandsons Robert Hargenrater, William Hargenrater, Jason Stearns, Justin Stearns, Stephen Stemm, Scott Stearns, Matthew Stearns, Todd Stearns, Ryan Stearns, seven great grandchildren, Jessica Graybill, Rachel Hargenrater, Thaddeus Stearns, Makaylee Stearns, Kaleb Stearns, Zackary Stearns, Lily Stearns, three great great grandchildren Lily, David and James Graybill, a daughter in law Andrea Stearns of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Robert, of 47 years, Shirley was preceded in death by a son, Robert M. "Mike" Stearns.

Private services will be held with with Rev. Darrell L. Greenawalt, Pastor of Saegertown United Methodist Church, officiating.

Shirley will be laid to rest with her husband, Robert, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
