Scott M. Henderson, 83, of 715 High Street, Conneaut Lake, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Meadville Medical Center.

Scott was born in Braddock, on April 18, 1933, the oldest child of the late James and Eldora (Edwards) Henderson, and brother to the late David Henderson.

On November 17, 2007, Scott married Doris Zirkle; she survives He had previously been married to Yvonnette Coulter; they were married on August 12, 1954; she preceded him in death on March 29, 2003.

Scott was a long time parishioner of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin.

At the age of 18, following his 1951 graduation from Braddock High School, Scott began his career with Westinghouse in the Hot Lab Department of Bettis Atomic Plant in West Mifflin where he remained a dedicated employee for 42 years. Additionally, he worked as a Deputy Game Warden for the Pennsylvania Game Commission in Allegheny County for 42 years. Throughout his adult life he was a steadfast advocate for the protection and preservation of the environment and of wildlife. Over the years he served as Director, Vice President and President of Clairton Sportsmen's Club; he was cofounder of Wildlife Habitat Alliance; he was a member of Wild Turkey Federation and Pheasants Forever, of Pymatuning Sportsmen's Club as well as a longtime member of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. In his free time he volunteered at the Pymatuning Wildlife Museum and was a longtime volunteer for Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting. As a Hunter Safety Instructor his knowledge and respect for gun safety was passed on to generations of hunters; he especially enjoyed educating the youngest of hunters. Scott was a talented artist, whether painting with water colors, acrylics, pastels or black and white, his work illustrated wildlife and landscapes and almost always included a barn. He often donated his artwork to raise money for conservation causes and was happy to know his passion for the outdoors was shared by others. Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Doris of nine years, Scott is survived by four children Richene Gaertner of Bellvue, Kevin Henderson and his wife Michelle of Wichita, KS, Keith Henderson of Whitehall, Sean Henderson and his wife Kim of Moon Twp., he was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren, Ryann Gaertner, Katie, Scott and Kelli Henderson, Ian and Andrea Henderson, Kyle and Sarah Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Yvonnette.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 1-3 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.

Family and friends are also invited to call on Saturday, November 26, from 10-1 at John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Pittsburgh, where a Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, with Pastor Jack Lucas officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association (NFMCPA), 31 Federal Ave., Logan, UT 84321.
