Robert Hearn, Jr., 88, of 268 Walker Drive, Meadville, passed away Monday, November 5th, 2012 at St. Vincent Health System, Erie.
Robert was born in North Carrolton, MS on August 4, 1924, a son of the late Robert and Bennie (Kirkwood) Hearn, Sr.
On July 24, 1968 Robert married Ruth J. Walker; she survives.
He was a member of St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, Meadville.
After many years of service, Robert retired from the former Meadville Malleable, now known as Am Cast. He had previously been employed by the former Edwards Tire Service, Meadville. A US Army veteran during WW II, Robert served his country until his honorable discharge on February 12, 1944. Robert attended schools in North Carrolton, MS and he loved to fish.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, of 44 years, Robert is survived by two children Denise Hearn of Meadville, William Robert Hearn of Jonesboro, GA, three step children Curtis Matthews, Maureen Matthews both of Meadville, Sharon Matthews of Alabama, four grandchildren Sharene Hearn of Meadville, Deanne Wofford of Chicago, IL, Chalai Wofford of Meadville, Maya Hearn of Georgia, several step grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy Lewis of Carbondale, IL, Martha Gomiller and her husband James of North Carrolton, MS, a brother Tommy Lee Hearn of North Carrolton, MS, two sisters-in-law Dorothy Montgomery of North Carrolton, MS, Mary Hearn of Flint, MI, a cousin Daisey Thantran of Meadville, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, extended family Patrick and Peggy McHale, Gary Williams, Charlie, Eddie Burnett and family, all of Meadville.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a step son Marlon Matthews, a sister Minnie Mae Hearn, two brothers Vernon Hearn and Dave 'Bud' Hearn.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 11-1 at St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 792 N. Main Street, Meadville, where a Homecoming Service will be held at 1:00 PM with Bishop Stanley Smith, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
