Robert "Bob" Carl Smith, 86, of Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born in Meadville, on January 19, 1936, a son of the late Arthur O. and Bessie L. (Johnson) Smith.

On February 11, 1961, he married Nancy Kordyl; she survives.

He was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church.

Bob was a graduate of Meadville High School, class of 1955. He furthered his education by graduating from the Crawford County Vocational Technical School in 1959 as a Journeyman Tool and Die maker, starting his career with Starn Tool. He entered the US Army on January 7, 1960 and served his country until his honorable discharge on March 16, 1962. He went onto serve in the Army Reserves until January 6, 1966. He returned to his employment with Starn Tool until 1973 when he became employed by Pennsylvania Tool and Gage until 1985. Moving to Jupiter, Florida, he found work with Neetan and Pace,from where he retired in 2003. Over the years he had been a member of the BPOE Elks #219 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #429. His hobbies included boating, hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling and he was an avid card player. During his retirement years he enjoyed RV camping with his wife Nancy, as they traveled though the US.

He was an amazing grandfather and he had a loving heart for all children, as they would always gravitate to him. Bob will be remembered as a person with a sterling personality, and calm demeanor. He will be sadly missed

In addition to his wife, Nancy, of 61 years, Bob is survived by two children Susan Marie Lybarger (Gary) of Meadville, Steven Matthew Smith (Cassandra) of Pleasant Hall; four grandchildren Tanner Golembeski (Brittney), Mallory Lynn Lane (James), Meghan Simpson (Adam), Kayla Ann Evans (Jacob); seven great grandchildren Brooklin Golembeski, Blake Golembeski, Waylon Evans, Charlotte Evans, Logan Simpson, Riley Simpson, Jasmine Simpson; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters Helen, Betty; four brothers John, Jim, Harold, and George.

Private services were held.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Saegertown United Methodist Church PO Box 689, or Saegertown Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 164, both in Saegertown, PA 16433.
