Regis Edward Holzwarth, Jr., 76, of Meadville, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at Marquette Hospice House.
Regis was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on July 20, 1946, a son of the late Regis E. and Catherine (Cavanaugh) Holzwarth, Sr.
For many years Regis owned and operated Holzwarth Roofing and Remodeling in the Meadville area. A US Navy veteran, Regis served his country honorably during the Vietnam War from 1964-1968. Much of his service time was spent on the USS Manatee AO-58, M-Division where he served as a machinist mate. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. A former member of Keystone Hose Volunteer Fire Department and the former Meadville Club, Regis was a member of VFW Post #2006, the Italian Civic Club, Meadville American Legion Post #111, and Vernon Volunteer Fire Department from where he also retired as their bookkeeper and bar manager. He was a faithful volunteer of Center for Family Services, especially with the Food Pantry. Regis will be most remember as a hard worker and an awesome and dedicated father to his, then, three teenagers, whom he raised to be loving daughters. They will never forget his signature phrase, "Happy motoring". He will be sadly missed.
Regis is survived by three daughters Lisa M. Chase of Salt Lake City, UT, Patricia L. Holzwarth of Meadville, Jenni S. Mabbitt of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren Lily, Juan, David, Sarah, Jack, Lorraine, Marisa; one great grandson James; a sister Judy A. Magee (Dan) of Edinboro; six nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Regis was preceded in death by a brother Robert and a nephew Bobby.
