Mr. Paul M. Hamilton, 88, of 902 Annesley Circle, Meadville, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 at home.
Paul was born in Cleveland, OH on January 28, 1922, the son of the late Harold M. and Helen (French) Hamilton.
On June 10, 1944 Paul married Marie Greenleaf; she survives.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Meadville, where he had served as a member of the Church Choir and former Church Treasurer.
In 1972 Paul retired as Project Manager from Monsanto Chemical Co., St. Louis, MO. During his 28 years of service, he also served as a Research Chemist. During WW II Paul was involved with the Manhattan District Project which later became the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1951 he was awarded a sabbatical leave to earn a Master of Science Degree from Ohio State University. He was a 1944 graduate of Allegheny College and a 1940 graduate of Meadville High School. Following his retirement and return to Meadville, Paul was very active with the Recycling Program for many years and was the recipient of the Hixon Award. A former member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Barbershoppers) for more than 25 years, Paul had also been a member of the Noontime Kiwanis, Crawford County Solid Waste Authority, Crawford County Planning Commission, Roundtable and Strategic Planning Committee of Wesbury and the Allegheny Chorus which is comprised of Allegheny Students and Meadville residence. He enjoyed many things such as farming with his son, Dave, working with and teaching others how to use the computer, taking trips with his wife, Marie, to many places around the world and he loved being with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife Marie of 65 years, Paul is survived by two sons David Alan Hamilton and his wife Cindy of Saegertown, Craig Lee Hamilton and his wife Darlene of Meadville, five grandchildren two great grandchildren and four nephews.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his step mother, Lucille Natzold Hamilton.Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, with Dr. Rev. Timothy M. Solomon, Pastor of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.
